A coastal-inspired retreat, grounded in Pureline oak

A new two-storey home for a young family in Auckland’s eastern suburbs called for a floor that could carry a light, coastal-Scandinavian palette from room to room. Sage & Nook Interiors chose Oak Pureline, a light-natural European oak from our Foundation collection, laid through the open living spaces.
A light-filled family home
Designed by Milieu Architecture and built by KN Construction, the home is a new build set up for a young family, with the open living areas doing most of the daily work. Sage & Nook Interiors set a coastal-Scandinavian palette throughout: pale walls, natural textures and plenty of daylight.
A light, natural timber floor was the anchor for that palette, running through the kitchen, living and dining spaces so the whole ground floor reads as one calm room.

The same Oak Pureline runs from the kitchen into the living and dining areas, so the palette Sage & Nook Interiors set for the home carries through without a break. In the kitchen it grounds the cabinetry and daylight; in the lounge it keeps the room feeling calm and open.

The finished floor does what the brief asked of it: a light, natural surface that carries the home’s coastal-Scandinavian palette from the entry through to the living spaces, without drawing attention away from the interior around it.
