Petit Château engineered European oak flooring in a herringbone parquet layout

Petit ChâteauEngineered European oak flooring

“European oak, at its most refined.”

Petit Château is our flagship European-oak collection. Seven colours, five formats, one idea done properly — refined engineered oak that specifies cleanly and lays predictably. Every board is 15mm thick overall — a 4mm European oak wear layer bonded to an 11mm plywood core — so you get a genuine oak surface on a base that holds its shape.

The refined end of oak. Where some floors trade on rough character, Petit Château is the tailored one — clean grain, even colour, and parquet you can actually specify. It runs from a pale, near-white Lyon through to the smoky depth of Nice, and the colours are named for the French towns the look belongs to. Herringbone and chevron sit in the same range as the wide planks, so a hallway in parquet and the living areas in plank can share one colour and one floor.

Built for a New Zealand house. Engineered oak is more dimensionally stable than solid timber, so it copes better with our humidity swings — a damp Auckland winter, then a dry, heated room. The surface is a hard-wearing UV lacquer in an extra-matt finish, laid glue-down. Standard planks and matching stair nosings are held in stock; the wider and parquet formats are milled to order.

Five formats, one collection

Every colour can be ordered in all five formats, and every one takes a matching stair nosing. It is what lets you carry a single oak through a whole house — wide plank in the open rooms, herringbone or chevron where you want the detail.

Matching stair nosings — every colour. Each colour has a colour-matched stair nosing, 1200mm long, held in stock — so the colour and grain carry straight through from floor to stair.

Made-to-order formats are milled to order: please allow approximately 3-4 months from order, an estimate that can vary with production and shipping. The longer Noble prime-grade plank has its own page.

A UV lacquer finish, and support to specify

The finish is a hard-wearing UV lacquer in an extra-matt sheen — a tough, low-glare surface that keeps the oak looking like oak, not plastic. Grade runs from Feature in the standard planks to Prime in the Noble and parquet formats. A Care Guide and Installation Guide sit on every colour’s product page.

Specifying it? Technical documents and Masterspec references are on our Architect & Specifier Support page, and there’s a full guide to styles, finishes & textures if you’re comparing options.

Common questions

What sizes and formats does Petit Château come in?

Five: Standard plank (190 × 1900mm) and Grand plank (220 × 2200mm), the longer Noble plank (190 × 2200mm) in a clean prime grade, plus Chevron and Herringbone parquet in 600 × 120mm blocks. Every format is a 15/4 engineered build — a 4mm European oak wear layer over a 15mm board — laid glue-down with a tongue-and-groove, micro-bevel edge.

Which colours and formats are held in stock?

Standard planks and matching stair nosings are held in stock across the colours. The Noble, Grand, herringbone and chevron formats are made to order — please allow approximately 3-4 months, an estimate that can vary with production and shipping. Stock moves, so ask us for the current position before you specify.

What’s the finish, and how do I look after it?

A hard-wearing UV lacquer in an extra-matt sheen. It is a low-maintenance surface for everyday cleaning; each colour’s product page carries a Care Guide and an Installation Guide. As a natural timber product, some colour and grain variation between boards is normal.

Can I specify Petit Château for a project?

Yes — it’s a stable engineered oak suited to residential builds, renovations and light commercial fit-outs. Technical documentation and Masterspec references are on our Architect & Specifier Support page. Talk to us early on lead times if a made-to-order format is on the drawings.
