Patina CollectionRustic, character-grade engineered oak
“Oak, shown for what it is.”
Patina is oak left honest. Wide boards, 240mm across and 2.2 metres long, with the knots, the grain and the natural colour movement all still in them. It’s finished to wear in rather than wear out, and it’s made to look like it’s already lived a life. The name says it: patina is what good timber does when you let time touch it.
Old-world, on purpose. Patina reads like a floor that’s been walked for a hundred years, the kind you find in a French farmhouse or an old villa where every board carries a bit of history. We didn’t design the character in. It’s the oak’s own. Our job was to leave it there instead of sanding it out.
Made for a real floor, and a real house. It’s engineered, so a 4mm oak wear layer sits over a stable 15mm board (15/4). Engineered boards are more dimensionally stable than solid timber, so they cope better with New Zealand’s humidity swings. Every pack is milled predominantly in long lengths, with only a small proportion of shorter (nested) boards, so you’re laying long, calm boards rather than a floor full of offcuts.
The specification
A UV oil finish, looked after in place
The finish is a hard-wearing UV oil. It soaks into the timber rather than sitting on top like a lacquer, so the grain stays open and the floor still feels like wood underfoot.
It’s made to be maintained in place: a tired or marked patch is cleaned and re-oiled rather than sanded back. A Care Guide and Installation Guide are on every colour’s product page.
The Patina colours
Dune, Amber and Slate are the core Patina colours; Ochre and further colours are made to order. Price is the same across colours — we price by format, not by colour. Order a sample of any colour below.
Common questions
Every board is 240mm wide and 2.2 metres long, on a 15/4 engineered build (a 4mm European oak wear layer over a 15mm board). Profile is tongue-and-groove with a bevelled edge, laid glue-down.
The finish is a hard-wearing UV oil that soaks into the timber. It’s looked after in place: a tired or marked patch is cleaned and re-oiled rather than sanded back, so you maintain the floor without machining the surface off.
Patina is new engineered oak with the character left in, not salvaged timber. You get the aged, characterful look of an old floor, plus the stability of an engineered board and a supply you can match across a project.
Dune, Amber and Slate are our core colours; Ochre and other colours are made to order. Talk to us about the current range and lead time before you specify, an estimate that can vary with production and shipping.

A Vienna Woods Collection
As a natural timber product, some variation in colour, tone and grain between boards — and against samples and on-screen images — is normal and to be expected.
