As a natural timber product, some variation in grain, tone and knots between boards is normal, and that is part of the character of real oak.

Oak left honest
Patina Slate is the cool, weathered grey in the set — a silvered, storm-grey oak with a limed brush worked into the grain. It reads like driftwood or old barn timber: aged, not just stained.
Patina is oak left honest. Wide boards, 240mm across and 2.2 metres long, with the knots, the grain and the natural colour movement all still in them.
The finish is an extra-matt UV lacquer — a clear film, cured under UV light at the factory, that sits on the surface and protects the timber underneath. It’s low-sheen: matt enough that the eye reads timber, not finish, so the brushed grain still comes through underfoot. Day to day it’s swept and cleaned with a lacquer-floor cleaner.
Engineered for New Zealand
It’s an engineered board — a 4mm European oak wear layer over a stable 15mm core (15/4). Engineered construction — a cross-layered core beneath the oak wear layer — makes Patina more dimensionally stable than a solid timber board, so it copes better with the humidity changes of a New Zealand home. Every pack is milled predominantly in long lengths, so you’re laying long, calm boards rather than a floor full of offcuts.
Like all timber, engineered oak responds to changes in humidity; keep indoor conditions stable for best performance.

‘European oak’ describes the timber species and where the oak is grown; the board itself is engineered overseas to Vienna Woods’ specification. As a natural timber product, some variation in colour, tone and grain between boards — and against samples and on-screen images — is normal and to be expected.
