Icons Collection engineered European oak flooring in a designer-curated herringbone parquet

IconsDesigner-curated engineered oak flooring

“Oak, shaped by New Zealand’s designers.”

Icons is our designer collection. Engineered oak developed with some of New Zealand’s leading interior designers, so each colour is a considered choice, not a catalogue afterthought. Every board is a 15mm engineered build with a 4mm European oak wear layer over a multi-ply core — a real oak surface on a base that holds its shape.

Named by the designers who made them. Coco came from Kristen Basra at Spatial Studio; Monaco from SOJO; Frida from Lesley Bros — alongside Milton, Conde and Westwood. The result is a tight, deliberate set of colourways built for the way New Zealanders live and build, running from soft greige through smoky grey to warm honey.

Built for a New Zealand house. Engineered oak is more dimensionally stable than solid timber, so it copes with our humidity swings and lays over concrete and underfloor heating when it’s installed correctly. The surface is an ultra-matt lacquer — low-glare and hard-wearing — that keeps the oak looking like oak. Wide planks are held in stock in selected colours; herringbone is milled to order.

The stories behind the colours

How the Icons colours were made

Several Icons colours were developed hand-in-hand with New Zealand designers. Read the collaboration stories behind them.

Wide plank, and selected colours in herringbone

Icons is a wide-plank collection at heart, with selected colourways also milled as herringbone parquet — so you can carry one designer colour across open living areas and into a patterned hallway or entry.

Westwood is also milled as a 190mm plank. Matching stair nosings are available. Monaco, Westwood and Coco are the colours held in stock as herringbone parquet; other colours can be ordered as herringbone, made to order — please allow approximately 3-4 months from order, an estimate that can vary with production and shipping.

An ultra-matt finish, and support to specify

The finish is an ultra-matt lacquer — a low-sheen, hard-wearing surface that reduces glare and keeps a natural timber look. Most colours are brushed; Milton and Conde are smooth-planed. A Care Guide and Installation Guide sit on every colour’s product page.

Specifying it? Technical documents and Masterspec references are on our Architect & Specifier Support page, and there’s a full guide to styles, finishes & textures if you’re comparing options.

Common questions

What makes the Icons Collection different?

Every colour was developed with a New Zealand interior designer, so the range is a curated set of colourways rather than a full spectrum — considered tones, grading and textures chosen for real interiors. It’s the same engineered European-oak build as our other collections, with the design thinking done up front.

What sizes and formats does Icons come in?

Primarily a 220 × 2200mm wide plank (Westwood is also milled at 190mm), with selected colours available as 600 × 120mm herringbone parquet. Every board is a 15/4 engineered build — a 4mm European oak wear layer over a 15mm board — laid glue-down with a tongue-and-groove, micro-bevel edge.

What’s the finish, and is it suitable for underfloor heating?

An ultra-matt lacquer — low-glare and hard-wearing. As an engineered floor it’s more dimensionally stable than solid timber and can be laid over concrete and underfloor heating, subject to correct installation. Each colour’s product page carries a Care Guide and an Installation Guide.

Can I specify Icons for a project?

Yes — it suits residential builds, renovations and light commercial fit-outs, depending on traffic and project requirements. Technical documentation and Masterspec references are on our Architect & Specifier Support page. Talk to us early on lead times if a made-to-order format is on the drawings.

As a natural timber product, some variation in colour, tone and grain between boards — and against samples and on-screen images — is normal and to be expected.
