Aalto is engineered larch: a 3mm larch wear layer on an engineered base, 15mm thick overall, brushed and finished in an extra-matt UV lacquer. Planks are 190mm wide and 1900mm long, and each pack includes some shorter lengths.
It is a character grade, so expect knots and natural variation in grain and tone from board to board. Order a sample to see it in your own light before you commit.
Designer: Nikki Wilson, Nikki Wilson Studio, an interior architecture studio based near Queenstown whose work across homes, hospitality and retail is known for layered, tactile materials.
Aalto is one of two larch floors in the ICONS Collection developed with Nikki Wilson. Larch has a more pronounced grain than oak, with clear growth rings and knots, and the brushed surface opens that grain up so it reads as texture as well as colour.
The colour: a pale, soft off-white with a cool grey cast. The brushing lifts the larch’s flame-figured grain, and the knots stay dark against the light boards, so the floor reads calm from across a room and textured up close.
