FlamingoEuropean oak, made in Europe

“The characterful floor, made to order.”

Flamingo is a Dutch oak brand, and Vienna Woods is its New Zealand representative. It is European oak, made in Europe and brought in to order — characterful, oiled floors that do not hide their grain. Two looks sit under the one brand: the heavy, rustic Raftwood plank, and a range of aged and planed oaks.

Raftwood is the one we focus on. A 220mm wide plank, 15mm engineered European oak, with a rough, rustic surface — knots, checks, saw marks and real board-to-board colour movement. It also runs to parquet and other sizes, made to order for a project.

Aged and planed oaks, alongside. The rest of the Flamingo range runs from pale limed and whitewashed boards through weathered greys to deep smoked oaks, in smoother planed and lightly-textured finishes. Because it is made to order and comes in a few times a year, it pays to talk to us early on timing. We hold test documentation for specifiers.

Raftwood

Our focus, and the most characterful floor we carry. Raftwood comes in a variety of profiles — wide planks, herringbone and chevron — but is typically ordered as a 220 × 2200 × 15/4 wide plank. It is heavily rustic: open splits and hand-filled knots, an oiled surface, and strong board-to-board colour movement. Made to order.

Aged & planed oak

The rest of the Flamingo range — aged, reclaimed and planed oaks in smoother, lighter-textured finishes, from pale limed boards to deep smoked tones. All made to order.

An oiled, characterful surface

The finish is a natural oil that sits in the timber rather than on top of it — matt and tactile. An oiled floor is refreshed with oil rather than a full sand-and-coat; each colour’s product page carries a Care Guide. Texture runs from the heavy, sawn Raftwood plank to smoother planed and aged boards.

Common questions

What is Flamingo?

A rustic, oiled European oak brand from the Netherlands, which Vienna Woods represents in New Zealand. It comes in two looks: the heavily rustic, sawn Raftwood plank we focus on — typically a 220 × 2200mm wide plank, also available in herringbone and chevron — and a range of aged and planed oaks. Made to order.

Is it held in stock?

No — Flamingo is made to order and comes in a few times a year. Please allow approximately 4-5 months, an estimate that can vary, and talk to us early on timing.

It looks very rustic — will it suit my project?

That character is by design: knots, checks, saw marks and board-to-board colour variation are part of the look, not a fault. We hold test documentation for specifiers — talk to us if you are comparing it for a build.

As a natural timber product, some variation in colour, tone and grain between boards — and against samples and on-screen images — is normal and to be expected.
