One floor, edge to edge

The house was designed around consistency, not feature moments. No hard contrast, no statement floor. Light, proportion and joinery do the work in each room, and the floor’s job was to tie them together without pulling focus. That pointed straight at the material: a timber with even tone and quiet grain that reads the same from the front entry through to the back bedrooms.

Why Bordeaux suited it

Bordeaux, from the Petit Château Collection, is European oak, engineered overseas to Vienna Woods’ specification. It was picked for a balanced mid tone and controlled grain: warm enough to soften the interior, restrained enough that it never competes with the joinery or the natural light. That evenness is the whole reason it could carry so many rooms without the eye catching on a break.

Vienna Woods products are listed on MasterSpec, so architects have a clear specification pathway. Detailed correctly, Bordeaux also suits projects that need to meet the Building Code’s E3 internal-moisture requirements.

Calm, continuous, settled

The floor runs continuously across the living areas, kitchen, circulation and secondary rooms. One surface, one tone, edge to edge. Fewer thresholds and colour changes, and the home feels larger and more settled for it. What was drawn is what landed on site: consistent grading and a predictable tone, so there were no surprises for the architect, builder or owner through the fit-out.
