Noble Grade is a premium grading option within the Petit Château collection, offering a cleaner, more consistent appearance with longer plank lengths. Designed for refined interiors and practical installation efficiency, it is particularly well suited to staircases, herringbone combinations, and projects where visual control matters.
This is our cleanest grade of engineered timber flooring, designed for projects where consistency, efficiency, and refinement are priorities.
What is Noble Grade?
Noble Grade (also referred to as Prime Grade) represents the cleanest timber selection available within the Petit Château range.
- Almost no knots — and those present are very small
- No splits
- Consistent grain structure
- Refined, controlled aesthetic
For projects where a calm, architectural finish is preferred, Noble Grade provides a more uniform expression of European oak while retaining the natural character of timber.
Why Noble Grade Exists
Designed for stairs
Standard plank lengths (typically around 1.9m) often result in excessive waste when used on staircases.
Noble Grade is available in longer lengths (up to 2.2m), allowing for more efficient use of material on stairs under 1.2m wide — reducing waste and improving yield.
For projects involving staircases, this provides a more practical and considered approach to material selection. You can learn more about stair applications in our timber stairs guide.
Designed for combined layouts
The Petit Château herringbone flooring format is produced in a Prime (clean) grade.
Noble Grade planks allow you to match this grading across:
- Herringbone floors
- Borders and feature areas
- Staircases
- Adjoining spaces
This ensures visual consistency across different formats within the same project.
Designed for refined interiors
Noble Grade is ideal for clients who appreciate the Petit Château colour palette but prefer a cleaner, more controlled timber appearance.
Suitable for:
- Architectural residential projects
- High-end interiors
- Commercial spaces requiring consistency
