American Walnut at the Park Hyatt
A five-star hotel chose American Walnut. Before it opened, the Park Hyatt on Auckland’s waterfront came to Vienna Woods for its timber flooring. It now runs American Walnut through key areas of the building, including the Presidential Suite and the Captain’s Bar.
A five-star fitout
A hospitality fitout is a hard brief. The floor had to look the part of a five-star hotel and work inside a design-led interior. It also had to sit inside a design led on the idea of natural luxury, with New Zealand heritage worked through the interiors: custom-made tukutuku screens, Māori artwork, textiles made from local wood. The timber’s job was to lift those elements, not compete with them.
Why American Walnut
American Walnut is a warm, refined timber with a deeper tone and an even grain. It complements a modern, minimalist interior without shouting over it, which is why it suited the Park Hyatt’s palette and its warm, welcoming spaces. Supplied as engineered timber flooring on special order.
Natural luxury underfoot
The floor runs through key areas of the hotel, including the Presidential Suite and the Captain’s Bar. Warm timber underfoot, set against the heritage detail and the waterfront light. It reads as the natural luxury the brief asked for.
A signal to specifiers
When a five-star hotel specifies your timber for its flagship rooms, that is worth noting. It tells a specifier the floor answered a demanding, design-led brief with no room for a wrong note.
