Bring a lacquered floor back — no sanding, no recoat
Bona Polish Matt is a ready-to-use, waterborne maintenance coating for lacquered, sealed and varnished timber floors. It fills the fine scratches that dull a floor over time and lays a fresh matt wear layer over the top — one built to take the daily traffic so the floor’s own finish stays sound underneath. Tough enough for a busy home or a shop floor, and it also suits laminate, vinyl, lino and ceramic tiles.

Not for oiled or waxed floors
Bona Polish is made for lacquered, sealed and varnished floors. On a waxed or oiled floor the surface residues stop it bonding, so it won’t hold. If you’re not certain what finish your floor has, always test on a small, out-of-the-way patch and let it dry before doing the whole floor.
Protects the floor you live on
A fresh wear layer takes the daily traffic, so your floor’s finish doesn’t
Scuffs, grit and foot traffic land on the polish, not on the lacquer underneath. When it eventually wears, you refresh the polish — not the whole floor.
Micro-scratches in the lacquer scatter the light and read as a tired, worn patch. The polish flows into them and levels the surface, then cures to a fresh matt wear layer over the top.

A little goes a long way
One litre lays a single coat over up to fifty square metres. Most rooms take far less, so a bottle sees you through more than one refresh.
Fast drying
~1hour to light traffic
Ready to use, back in the room fast
Straight from the bottle, no diluting. Light foot traffic after about an hour, a second coat after two if you want more depth, furniture and rugs the next day.

How to use
Prep, apply, then let it cure
Clean the floor properly first. Sweep or vacuum up loose dirt and grit, then wet-clean the whole floor with Bona Cleaner and let it dry. Anything left on the floor gets sealed in permanently, so don’t skip this.
Shake the bottle well. Pour a wavy line, about 3 to 4 cm wide, over roughly three square metres at a time.
Spread it straight away with a flat Bona applicator pad, working with the grain in a thin, even coat. Keep the pad flat and go wall to wall — don’t lift it mid-stroke or you’ll trap bubbles.
Leave any area that has started to dry alone. Going back over it causes streaks, and rushing the next coat can lift the one below.
Let it dry about an hour before light foot traffic. Add a second coat after two hours if you want more depth. Rugs and furniture back the next day; hold off full wet-cleaning for three days.
Timings are for 20°C and 60% humidity — a cold or humid room dries slower. Full guidance is on the technical data sheet below.

Aftercare
Keeping it looking its best
Do
Clean day to day with Bona Cleaner.
Wring the mop well — damp, never flooded.
Re-coat when the polish looks worn, not the whole floor.
Don’t
Use it on oiled or waxed floors — it won’t bond.
Reach for strongly alkaline cleaners; they strip the polish off.
Skip the test patch if you’re unsure of the finish.
Store between 5 and 25°C, out of direct sun. Unopened, the matt polish keeps for about a year.
