Bona · Care for all wood floors

Everyday cleaning for lacquered and oiled wood floors

Bona Wood Floor Cleaner is a ready-to-use, pH-neutral cleaner for finished timber floors — lacquered, oiled, waxed or sealed, and sealed cork too. Spray it on, mop it off: it lifts everyday dirt and grime, dries fast and leaves no streaks or dulling residue. The 2.5-litre bottle refills a Bona spray mop, so it goes a long way.

It cleans — it doesn’t re-coat

This is a cleaner for a floor whose finish is still sound. It lifts everyday dirt and keeps a finished floor looking its best, but it won’t repair or restore a finish that’s worn through. If the floor looks dull or scuffed in the coating itself, reach for a maintenance polish (lacquered floors) or a maintenance oil (oiled floors) — the cleaner is for keeping a sound floor clean.

Everyday care

Keep a wood floor looking cared-for, week to week

A quick spray-and-mop lifts the grit and grime that dull a floor over time — no bucket, no rinsing, dry enough to walk on within minutes.

What it’s for

One cleaner for every finished wood floor

Most timber floors are finished one of two ways — sealed with a lacquer or varnish, or oiled and waxed. Bona Wood Floor Cleaner is pH-neutral, so it’s gentle enough for both, and for sealed cork as well. One bottle handles the whole house.

It’s the everyday job: lifting dust, footmarks, spills and the fine grit that scratches a floor if it’s left to sit. Because it’s water-based and dries fast, the floor is back in use within minutes, with no film or residue left behind.

Bona certification

GREENGUARD GOLD certified for low chemical emissions

Bona states that Bona Wood Floor Cleaner is GREENGUARD GOLD certified for low chemical emissions indoors. That’s Bona’s own third-party certification, shown here as manufacturer information — ask us for the current certificate.

How to use

Spray, mop, done

  1. Sweep or vacuum up loose dirt and grit first, so you’re not dragging it across the floor.
  2. Spray a light, even mist straight from the bottle, or fill a Bona spray mop and pull the trigger as you go — no diluting, no bucket.
  3. Mop with a well-wrung microfibre pad, working with the grain. The floor should look barely damp, never wet.
  4. It dries in a few minutes with no rinsing — no streaks, no dulling residue.

For a floor that’s picked up a heavy build-up or old polish, deep-clean it first with the matching product for its finish, then keep it up with this.

When to reach for it

Reach for it when

  • Regular weekly cleaning of a lacquered, oiled or sealed timber floor.
  • You want one cleaner that suits every wood floor in the house.
  • You’re topping up a Bona spray mop.
  • A quick clean-up after everyday spills and foot traffic.
Aftercare

Keeping it looking its best

Do

  • Wring the mop well — the floor should be damp, never flooded.
  • Sweep or vacuum grit up before you mop.
  • Deal with spills as they happen, before they dry in.
Don’t

  • Flood a timber floor with water, or leave puddles to sit.
  • Use strongly alkaline or abrasive cleaners — they can damage the finish.
  • Expect it to restore a worn finish; that’s a job for polish or oil.
