The cartridge in this kit is Bona cleaner for oiled and waxed floors. For a lacquered, sealed or PU-finished floor you need the Bona Spray Mop Kit for lacquered floors instead, the wrong cleaner can leave an oiled floor patchy or dull a lacquered one. If you’re not sure which finish you have, ask us before you order, and always test on a small out-of-the-way patch first.
Made for oiled and waxed floors
An oiled floor is protected by oil worked into the timber, not by a hard surface coat. It needs a cleaner that lifts dirt without pulling the oil back out. This kit is built for that, the cleaner cleans and helps keep the oiled surface fed, so the floor doesn’t dry out or go patchy.
The cartridge holds Bona’s water-based, pH-neutral cleaner. It dries fast and leaves no streaks or sticky residue, so you can walk on the floor straight after.
Spray, mop, done
- Sweep or vacuum loose grit first. Grit is what scratches a floor.
- Fit the microfibre pad and click the cartridge into the mop.
- Pull the trigger to spray a fine mist ahead of you, then mop with the grain. Keep the pad barely damp, never flood an oiled floor.
- Wash the pad when it’s dirty and reuse it, no need for a fresh one each time.
Reach for it when
- Regular cleaning of an oiled or waxed timber floor.
- You want a quick clean with no bucket and no mixing.
- You’ve got an oil-finished engineered or solid timber floor.
Keeping it looking its best
- Sweep or vacuum grit before you mop, grit scratches.
- Keep the pad barely damp; oiled floors don’t like water sitting on them.
- Re-oil the floor now and then, cleaning alone won’t feed it.
- Don’t use it on a lacquered or sealed floor, that’s the lacquered kit.
- Don’t flood the floor or leave standing water on the boards.
- Don’t use a lacquered-floor cleaner or a steam mop on oiled timber.
